Working Together in Rural Somerset

Many of our Gather stories have been from city and larger town contexts, but much of Britain is rural and so here is a beautiful story of hope and blessing from the country lanes of Somerset, where God is uniting his church to declare his message of love in word and deed through their Churches Together group.

Watchet and Williton are two small neighbouring towns on the Somerset coast just north of Minehead. Together their population is less than 8000 and unfortunately progressively worsening employment opportunities has led to increasing levels of poverty in this beautiful corner of the country – Watchet now falls within the top 10% most socially deprived areas in the UK (Source: Church Urban Fund).
